AmeriCorps is a
Federal National Service program that matches interested
individuals with opportunities to serve those in need for a
one year period. This program offers people with compassion
the ability to learn professional skills while contributing
to local nonprofit agencies and the people they serve. A
stipend, benefits and training are provided. Positions are
located at nonprofit agencies.
TIDR has openings for 2 full-time AmeriCorps members to
provide help for survivors of Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane
Rita and other disasters. All positions last for one year.

Award: $4,725 (can be used for future education or to repay
student loans up to 7 years after AmeriCorps service)

Positions available:
Case Worker (2): Provide
comprehensive needs assessments, devise recovery plans in
conjunction with clients, determine how to effectively meet
immediate, short-term and long-term needs, refer to job
training and employment counseling, help clients enroll for
public benefits, ensure affordable, stable housing and
perform community outreach.
Requirements:
A
bachelor’s degree is required
A desire to
work one-on-one with individuals and families in need
A willingness
to learn
An ability to
make a one year commitment
Strong
organizational skills
