TWO POSTERS ABOUT THREE WAYS
TO FIGHT THE FLU
'Tis the season of sneezing and coughing. Please
take the time to develop a new habit - sneeze (cough)
into your sleeve (not your hand). Then, wash,
wash, wash your hands. Washing your hands
for 20 seconds with soap, warm water and brisk
friction will greatly reduce your chance of getting
sick or passing illness to others. And finally,
take some time off when you do get sick. Staying
home prevents the spread of illness and rest is
best!
Let's practice good health habits this winter and
keep our families well throughout the holidays.
If your faith-based organization or house-of-worship
would like copies of these posters or other materials
about practicing healthy habits to prevent the
spread of flu and other illnesses, please contact
TIDR.
Peace,
Amy

Project HELP Seeking Sponsors To Bring Christmas Cheer
to Homeless Austin Students
The Austin School District's Project
HELP invites the Austin community to become a Christmas
Sponsor for children and youth (or an entire family)
experiencing homelessness.
Families have registered with Project HELP seeking
holiday assistance with clothing and toys. Individuals
interested in becoming a sponsor are asked to contact
AISD's Project HELP at 414-0761. Project HELP will provide
a family's wish list.
All gifts should be holiday-wrapped and include a
tag with the recipient's name. Gifts should be brought
to the Project HELP office, located at the Alternating
Learning Center campus, portable 451, by 3 p.m.,
on Friday, December 14. The ALC is
located in East Austin at 901 Neal Street.
Also needed by homeless families are meals for Christmas
day. Meals can be donated in two ways:
Cooked
and ready to eat (if sponsor can deliver directly),
or
Ingredients boxed with the necessary items to prepare
a traditional meal.
Cash donations are also welcome in the form of a
gift card.
Project HELP assists students experiencing homelessness
to enroll, participate, and succeed in school. It
provides enrollment assistance, support services
to unaccompanied youth, tutorial and academic enrichment
services, parent education, transportation services,
linkages to childcare services, support to local
emergency shelters and local service providers, and
training and support to district personnel.
