Update As of Sunday Afternoon, July 1 From the American Red Cross
Thank you for what you have already done. Thank you for your willingness to serve.
The
American Red Cross and the greater community are continuing to meet the
emergency needs of those affected by the Central Texas
floods. After operating emergency shelters immediately
following the floods, Red Cross personnel, from Texas and around the
nation, are operating a disaster assistance center at the Marble Falls
Elementary School Gym. The facility's hours, at 2001 Broadway, are 9
a.m. to 5 p.m. and will be open as long as necessary to meet the
emergency needs of those affected.
At the
assistance center, flood victims meet one-on-one with American Red
Cross caseworkers and begin the process of determining the financial
assistance available. We have 60 families currently being assisted and
163 homes, in Burnet, Llano and Williamson counties, that have been
assessed as having minor damage to being completely destroyed. Tomorrow
we will begin doing home visits to those who have been unable to come
to the service center or those whose damage assessments were not yet
available.
The disaster assistance center is also serving as a
bulk distribution site for cleanup items such as rakes, shovels, mops,
buckets, etc. Emergency Response vehicles are distributing snacks and
water to those in heavily affected neighborhoods.
Those
seeking assistance from the Red Cross are asked to bring a photo I.D.
and proof of address of the affected residence. Anyone affected by the
floods in Llano, Burnet, Williamson, Travis counties is welcome.
