Neighbors,
Here at TIDR, we know that we make the most positive
impact in our community when we collaborate with
others. We enjoy working with various local
organizations, faith-based communities, and individuals
who share this same spirit of community involvement. We
have several opportunities for these like-minded
people to volunteer in disaster response efforts.
A Disaster Contact Person (DCP) is vital to organizations,
especially faith communities, in a disaster. Are you
ready to partner with TIDR as the DCP for your organization?
Another great way to get involved in response efforts is to
volunteer at TIDR's Disaster Communication Center in the event
of a disaster.
Further information on both of these partnership opportunities
can be found in this Volunteer Edition of the TIDR E-Buzz. As
always, if you need further information, you can call us anytime.
Peace,
Amy

Designating
a Disaster Contact Person
TIDR asks every local faith community and organization
that would like to stay informed and involved during
disaster to designate a Disaster Contact Person (DCP)
to act as a liason between your membership and TIDR.
In times of disaster, TIDR will contact the DCP with information
updates as well as volunteer and donation needs. Please take
a moment to register your DCP with TIDR by sending the following
information to info@tidr.org.
* The Name of your DCP
* His/Her Role in the
organization (Member, Leader, Pastor, etc.)
* The DCP's Phone Number(s)
* The DCP's Email Address
* The name of Faith Community
/ Organization which the DCP represents
* The name and contact info of an Alternate
DCP
If you have any questions about the designation process or the
role of the DCP in your organization, please don't hesitate to
contact TIDR.

Volunteer
at TIDR's Disaster Communication Center
Since hurricane season began June 1, TIDR is seeking
volunteers for its Disaster Communication Center. TIDR
needs community members who, in the case of an emergency
evacuation of a coastal city, would be willing to assist
with giving information and coordinating community
resources.
We will be hosting a lunch-hour training on June 15th for these
volunteers, so please sign up as soon as possible.
The primary role of the TIDR Disaster Communication Center will
be to keep Austin-area organizations and faith communities informed
about:
* The status of neighborhood
shelters
* Where volunteers are
needed and what skills are required
* What donations are
being accepted
TIDR's goal is to facilitate communication and cooperation and
to promote the use of community resources during times of disaster.
The training will be from 12-1pm Friday, June 15th. If you are
interested in attending, or if you would like to request more
information, please contact Marianne Lawson at Marianne@tidr.org
or 458-8848.
