Happy New Year from Texas Interagency
Interfaith Disaster Response. We hope that 2008 finds
all of us making plans to mitigate potential disaster
or emergency situations, and that 2008 will be a year
in which we are all more resilient to the struggles
of life.
The faith community remains tasked with finding
ways to help those who are in great need or in
harm's way, and the more we continue our work together,
the better our chances of mitigating or lessening
those things that affect the way we live, that
affect our world, our neighborhoods, our faith
communities, and our individual lives. We have
learned nothing over the last couple of years of
storms and floods, tornadoes and hurricanes, wildfires
and even the recall of toys due to lead paint,
if we have not learned ways to cope and prepare
for issues that may confront us--and that working
together with one voice and one heart, we make
a more significant impact in preventing, responding
and recovering from difficult problems, emergencies,
and even disasters.
In August of 2007, TIDR was fortunate to mark the
second anniversary of Hurricane Katrina with a
ceremoney held at the Street-Jones Building. Marilyn
Martin, a graphic artist and consultatnt, made
a graphic recording of this event, and TIDR is
pleased to offer these prints for sale for $5.00
each. Each print is approximately 5.25"x5.5", in
color on a card stock paper. We are glad to mail
them to you at no additional charge, or you can
come by our office to pick them up; there are only
200 copies available. Your donation of $5.00 will
do towards helping TIDR grow disaster resilient
communities. (If you would like more information
about graphic recording, please contact Marilyn
Martin @ Marilyn@MarilynMartinConsulting.com.)
As we begin this new year, please be in touch with
TIDR. Let us know how we can assist you in your
disaster preparedness or business continuity planning.
If you would like more information about TIDR,
please do not hesitate to call or drop me an e-mail.
Blessings,
Amy
